The Universal Serial Bus (USB) has become the standard way within the computer and electronics industries today for its ease of use, flexibility and high speed. All PCs have a number of USB ports for connecting external devices. If you need to electrically isolate a device that is to be connected to a PC, USB is a natural connection interface because of its extensive industry support. For test and measurement applications, such as industrial, where large supply rail offsets can occur, and medical, where PC-based instruments are attached to patients. USB data acquisition devices offer a number of significant advantages. But they also contain some potential dangers, such as instantenous voltage spikes and ground loops introduced by EMI/ESD, lighting or power surges, which can cause catastrophic results. Galvanic isolation to USB is an effective way to eliminate these potential harms, to provide protection for data acquisition devices and PC, security for human in medical applications, and to preserve the integrity of USB data.
Advanced programmable logic technique and high speed, high isolation voltage digital isolators are applied to directly isolate the physical layer signals of the USB. Transmission rate is not affected and USB 1.1 specification is complied. USB bus power supply is transformed via internal DC/DC converter to power downstream USB device. When an external power supply is applied, high power (500mA) and low power (100mA) USB devices are supported.
IUSBHUB4 is a standard USB HUB. No special software or drivers are required. Its general drivers are already included in the supporting operating system.IP66/67 protection is provided.
